Default Suggestion for Comp - Sim. to architectural design

Jeff,

I would like to make a suggestion that may sound minor, though it could be helpful.

When I have had projects entered in architectural design competitions it is standard practice to make sure that the judges have no idea who is submitting the work. That way there is no chance of any preconceived ideas or influences playing a role in selection.

Now I'm not suggesting that anything happened in the contest here, but it can't hurt to keep names and locations out of the loop. You assign numbers that only you and the contestant know until the final decisions go public.

This way the final decisions are based soley on merit without any possibility of either intentional or unintentional bias.

I would even do this in the subsequent votes. Perhaps give a listing by name of who makes each round, but never reveal their name during the actual voting.

Thanks,

Default Re: Suggestion for Comp - Sim. to architectural design

i agree. while it probably won't happen in this comp., i think it might be a good idea if through some miraculous way this comp. ever happened again. i don't mind the names being there for the qualification round, like jeff said, there were over 300 entries with 3 images for each entry. numbers for 900 images could have been a bit overwhelming. but now that they are down to 30, i think numbers would have been a good idea. everyone could have received a special numbered user acount to submit there work with.

like i said, it probably will not happen for the remainder of this comp, but i think it would be worth looking into if there is something like this again in the future.
