Hey everyone,
Long Time Listener. First time caller. I've used Lightscape for a long time and have had limited success with a skydome w/ a half decent image mapped correctly w/ an explanation that illustrates which things need to be checked (occluding, reflecting, etc.) and whats the process in bringing it home. If anyone could upload or send me their skydome block and/or an explanation on merging it, I'd be in your debt. Sincerely, Jay Adams |

you want a skydome that surrounds your scene to be visible in the background right?
well, make a large half-sphere and map your spherical image on to it (better to do in 3dmax or somewhere else, because the mapping, especially adjusting the seams doesn't always work well in lightscape). then import this sphere into lightscape and place it over your scene. you should check "no mesh" and "display raw textures" and uncheck everything else: occluding, reflecting, recieving, because you do not want the sky to interact with your scene but only be visible. that's all. the easiest way to create skymaps is using terragen and render 6 cubic views with 90° viewangle, then compose these 6 views to a spherical panorama within hdr-shop. i hope this helps a bit. |
