Looking to purchase Viz 2006 pretty soon, but wasn't sure who to go to in the UK to buy it. Any recommendations?
or should I just buy it direct from the states and pay the import duty? Cheers |

ouch !
Uk online price = £1985 (incl vat) US online price = $1995 = £1045 + vat * 17.5% = £1227 + import tax .... not sure how much that is, but it can't much more than 10% surely!? so.... seems like its a no brainer... I need to look at getting an import ? I remember there being licensing issues with imported copies of max.... but my god!?... surely the price disparity is rediculous! |

Viz is an Autodesk product...
I'm sure that here in Italy you HAVE to buy the product from a local reseller to have a full legal licence... I know that's unfair... and the worst part is that we often have to wait MONTHS before the local italian reseller have the last version of the software... I don't know why, but the Autodesk (the italian branch), told me that if I buy a Us copy of the software the licence in Italy has no effect.. and I'm considered as a illegal user... as if I had no licence at all!! I don't know if Autodesk does the same in other countries... but if not I'll start to be VERY angry... Gabriella |

Try these people

But it looks as though the subscription has gone up by about £40! Geoff (don't forget to buy a decent renderer, like vray!) It arrived the very next day to Last edited by Geoff; April 22nd, 2005 at 03:18 AM. |

Thanks for the info.
I don't understand how the rules of 'free trade' fail to apply in this situation. Surely its against trade rules that they can prevent you from buying a product in country A and using it in country B? I suppose its another example of the doublespeak we have to get used to these days.... Free trade = Controlled Trade. Geoff - Thanks for that, that's a good price for sure. |
