Framing is awkward and the sky isn’t very convincing. What I find very interesting in the rendering is the lights rendered inside the building envelope. I can begin to understand urbanism in terms of building life as opposed to what is expected; i.e. people wandering the streets.

Now this image evokes for me the destroyed Plaza down at WTC. The surrounding foreground 'portico' surely evokes the WTC ground complex for me. There is however a sense of awkwardness in the composition with the main building behind it being bisected on top by the diagonals of the foreground building. The perspective/camera could be moved a bit to the left and shown not just the full building in the background but also parts of the plaza foreground more. In this composition it is hard to determine what is the subject matter? Is it the plaza, is it the background building? or it is the space?
The excessive blurring of the people on the lower right side is a bit distracting. Also the background building does not have a feel that is is made of thermal pane glass? The glass prismatic feeling is gone, maybe a bit of reflection map would have worked? Just a hint of it to separate the glass elements of the building from the concrete/steel cladding. I do like the choice of color scheme/palette in this image that works very well. it is also nice to see that you have established the timne of day here as well as light direction in this image. In this part you have succeeded very well. Also maybe show more of the right side section specially what is under the plaza? The dramatic cutoff on the lower right side begs for more information on what lies there. A wider composition would have worked here to show these areas.

The overhang is a nice compositional trick, but it's overdone. It needs to be pulled back a bit to show the top of your hero building.
The lighting and colors are quite nice, it just needs more detail in the model and the people need to be more carefully selected and placed. |

You really nailed a time of day with this. The purples are obvious, anyone could have done that. But the warmer tones are done just right, not overdone as most of us would have ended up, too much yellow.
The detailing is superb, from the modernist cyrtainwall to the lush underside of the arcade. Not to overlook the ground surface, equally well textured. Where the problems come in is with the inconsistent level of detail between the foreground elements and the too-sparse background. They should fade between the two more. The people are treated nicely, but would be more effective with more saturation. I want to walk out onto that plaza, feel the cool evening air. |
