I would have to say yes, as long as the buildings were for use just as the exterior background & not the main subject.

We are allowed to use photos as well, but will be judged on technical difficulty too.

I'd like to hear from Jeff...but where has he been?

Ohhhh I see! Well my guess would still be yes, but be careful because they also judge on creativity, so if you model and render something exactly how it is in real life, then you will probably lose points for that.

hi,

well looking at the comments of the last challenge i dont think that you have to
came here with your own design, after all this is a visualization competition not a design competition. but i think we will have to wait for jeff for the final comment. any how i have started one of my own as you can see in the wip #3
section.

thanks and good luck!!!

I do not see the disconnect between visualization and design. Part of the visualization process is to be able to take the concept of another if not yourself and express it in the best visual quality. This part of the equation is no less than design in and of itself.

hi,

well i see it like that... if you are making a visualization of an existing building
than you are not really designing. when you are busy with that then you are
trying to make an image as close as you can to realty. yes you can make it in your own style but its still not your design.
I'm not saying its bad or easy to do it, i think its really a good way to make better visualization when you have a reference image to relate too.

good luck!!!

I completely agree with your point. But even in the deciding how to best express the visualization, you are in essence designing the image, which is very important and equally important to the design of the subject.

Sorry for the delayed reply, I've been away on vacation.

You can model an existing space or one you make up. While creativity is a little bit of design, much of it has to do with how you execute the overall scene.

Hope that answers your questions.
