Default Nicholas Moshenko - WIP

Hi -

This is an extremely busy time of year for me, but I do apologize for not getting something together sooner. My design is based on a simple plan of intersecting squares and volumes that form a super-tower. Two cores (solid material?) extend to different heights, while 2 translucent boxes twist as they rise up the building. The volume in between will be heroically tall and full of natural light from the intersecting translucent volumes (connecting bridges there too). Whether the final viewpoint will see this massive volume or not is still undecided; I may just try to express it through shadow and the scale at ground level. I'll post some sketches of the lobby itself today, hopefully.

Take a look at Libeskind and Peter Eisenman's work for some detail ideas.

Looking forward to it. It's rare to see some progressive architecture rendered well, although, ironically, it usually looks amazing when rendered well.

Good luck.

I can't help but take a look at Libeskind; he's playing in my backyard :

I have a friend who is working on this project, so I'm hoping to go for a construction tour this week.

Here's a modeling update, with more to come shortly. Two large cores extend upwards through a massive atrium, all of which is wrapped in a twisted glass shell. I'll be adding more detail like bridges, access to below grade and something resembling structure soon.

Here's a desperate fist attempt at materials and lighting. The idea is for the clad cores to be made up of alternating panels of frosted/fritted and clear glass. This clearly isn't working right now, but that's the idea The overblown elevator cores are frosted panels that wrap around a glowing inteiror, which will eventually show itself as it rises up through the cores. There is a rough idea of below-grade activity that I will try to bring out more for tomorrow's final.

Probably a final WIP for me. I wish I had more time to add more detail, but this will probably be close to final.

That thing is huge! Good job on the lighting. I might try to even out the spot on the right though, where it's a little burned out.

Oh, yeah! It has been a nice change to work on a project of such scale; it's been "designed" as a couple of 80+ storey towers, and I wanted to create a super-large scale for the entrance lobby.
