Default Challenge 3 - Model New or Use an Entire Existing Work?

The objective for challenge 3 states:

Competitors will be challenged to model and render an interior scene of a commercial lobby for a high profile office tower. The lobby should contain windows for exterior natural lighting as well spaces with indoor lighting. Entrants will be expected to fully texture, light and populate the scene with all necessary entourage.

and rule #7 from contest states:

7. You may not submit or use any past projects for the challenge submissions. All entries must be original and created for the competition. (Applies only to challenge contestants, not the qualification round).

It will be interesting to see how the WIP section tells the story of how the final image is produced.

I have to ask this question. How much can be new, and how much can be pre-existing?

As I am modeling and building 99% of my scene as new work, i.e. never existed before the the start of this challenge.

The main intent for that rule was to prevent people from taking commercial projects done in the past, or projects that were done for practice and entering them directly in the competition.

I don't have a problem with using exiting models for things like chairs, telephone posts, and other types of entourage. If there are small architectual elements for the building that is ok too, but the main building/lobby itself should be modeled specifically for this competition.

Does that answer your question?

That answers my question, and is good because the other items that will be added to my design will be of course some chairs, plants and people, and those will not be modeled by myself. Thanks Jeff.
