The architecture isn't my favorite, but it's well represented. It's almost like a time machine--1950's on the bottom, 1970's above that, followed by the 90's and then the 20's. OK, to the rendering:
The framing is good with the beam upper left, but where's it's balancer on the right? We have an enclosed space with nothing solid on that side. The darker upper and lower portions do a good job of allowing movement from outside in and out again. The light is like a liquid flowing through. The light color shifts nicely, but is overly green for my tastes. The floor texture is perfect, but lacks any joint lines, which would make a big difference. The people let you down. They are not matched well enough for contrast and may be out-of-scale, though in either case its minor. And what's with the micro-trees? The glass around the escalators doesn't read like glass. If it were more transparent you would get more of the path to the lower level, which would be nice. There are no clues as to the purpose or use of the upper level. Contrast and color-wise its the most interesting part of the picture, so invite us up there by showing something we can relate to like people, furniture, maybe artwork. |

A well accomplished photo-real image - both lighting and material use complement each other well. It would be tempting to open the camera angle and remove the soffit to the top left corner. Equally, remove the persons to the left or position them walking into the space

Again…technically it is very nice.
While typically I would advocate resisting opening up the FOV too large in this case I think I would advise the opposite. On the right side we have a major diagonal terminating at the top corner and the cropping out of a major vertical, and on the left we have the visual extension of the escalator as well as a large bright window that we only see a hint of. Without knowing what happens beyond the crop I can only guess but right now the architecture and the image seem to be forcing us out of the space - but not letting us see where we would be going. |
