![]() Hi everyone, We have changed the CGarchitect.com SIGGRAPH event date to Wednesday instead of Tuesday. Although for the last 3 years Autodesk Media Entertainment (formerly Discreet) has had their user event on Monday night, they have decided to partner with Blur this year and host their annual user event, where they announce the new release of 3dsmax, on Tuesday. As we know how important attending this event is for the majority of our readers, we have made arrangments to change our event date to Wednesday. NOTHING ELSE HAS CHANGED - Only the date. The CGarchitect.com Industry Event will occur on Wednesday August 3rd. We will be emailing everyone who has already RSVPd with the change and we have already updated the site in numberous places. If you see a location that still indicates a Tuesday event date please let me know ASAP. Please accept my appologies if this has affected anyone's plans. Hope to see you at the event! http://www.cgarchitect.com/siggraph/ Jeff

I for one am glad you changed it. I remember the first year you had the CGA party it was on the same night as the Discreet event and there were a lot of people who had a hard time deciding which one to go to.

Edit: It's all good now. I even saved $30 on my plane tickets this way. Last edited by Tim Nelson; June 28th, 2005 at 09:03 AM. |

It's a five-hour flight for me, but when you add to/from the airport plus getting a car, it'll be an all-day ordeal. |

If you've ever driven from Phoenix to LA, you know its not something you want to do if you don't have to - especially in the middle of summer. It is such a stinkin' boring drive, I decided to fly instead. Besides, my ticket ended up only being $70, and the only other transportation I'll have to pay for is the shuttle to & from the hotel. I didn't want to have to bother with outrageous parking prices.

I also think using public transit to get around is better than driving and parking at conferences. However there was one problem last year and that is that the shuttles didn't run in the middle of the day. I doubt they will this year either and there were a couple of times I needed to get away and had to get a cab which isn't cheap, but then again probably still cheaper than parking.

Apparently my sources at Autodesk Media & Entertainment are a bit confused. The user group event is on Monday
Autodesk User Group Meeting August 01, 2005 5:30 pm - 9:00 pm Marriot Grand Ballroom 333 S. Figueroa Street Los Angeles, CA 90071 USA None the less our event will remain on it's new date of Wednesday.

Hi all,
Can someone make a list of the events that involve CGA or close to the business-issues? --- --- --- --- August 3rd: CGA-party August 4th: George --- --- --- tnx nisus another thing: I was thinking about renting a car for a week. Does it make sense for transport, or is public transport better? (I plan to do some basic tourist first-LA-visit-things...) What type of transport would you recommend? (In Europe, I'm used to walking... (or trains...)) |
