I took the liberty to modify the structures of the dome, as I felt that those in the provided drawings are too massive. I want Nature, and thus my image, to be in a bright airy environment, and not be imprisoned in a steel cage. As for the angle, well, what do you guys think?

I like the angle, but maybe the structure is too modified - it doesn't look realistic. Did you consider trusses or a space frame?

I agree about the structure. It looks a little flimsy.

That kind of fine structure can realy look great, but what you need to reslolve all the forces is secondary layer of fine structure going in diagonal direction. Check out the work of Japanese architect Shigeru Ban, he is master for that kind of structures!

I do not think I will be able to go much further into this competition. I have just came back from abroad and tomorrow I need to fly out of town again! Without being able to dedicate good effort, I will not be doing justice to this competition. Here I have posted a rough composition and a glimpse of what my work aspires to be. Good luck to all of you. You guys are the best.

ps. Jeff if you are reading this, I will be withdrawing from this competition. I'm sorry.

Sorry to hear that you are leaving competition...
Foreground of your composition looks realy good, esspecially stones!
Perhaps you can continue latter, with exterior and animation chellenge?
There will be more time - two weeks of judging and new 27 days for next chellenge...
If I understood correctly, you are not disqualified if you do not complete one chellenge, just deduction of points...
Anyway, why give up already?

That's too bad, I'd really like to see what you can do here - based on your WIP this could end up being a really great image.

It is too bad, but understandable. It's why I went the group route this year. Even with the adjusted rules, it's a commitment.

BTW, what is with all these viz-artists traveling abroad for work? I never go anywhere!

i think the structure would work since it's conical. steel can do amazing things... however some more detail in the connections and the platforms (if that is what they are) would be nice.
