Modelling: Very good, all spaces are well concieved, and nicely detailed. Folliage is excellent, there is a lot of stuff in your renders, you must have worked 24hrs a day.
Lighting: Nicely done, the exterior look great, and the interiors are nice, a really good balance in the different areas, which works well edited together. I like the exporation of the different areas, and they all have a nice feel, that is different, but also gel together. Animation: Lovely starting shot, well desinged titles. A good mixture of static shots, zooms and small movements. this works really well. We dont want to be catepulted aournd the space via a camera on a spring. The gentle laid back approach really helps apreciate the space. Depth of field shots add a great sense of space, and balancing them out has worked. Also the movement of lifts really punctuates the images, and leads the movie, a type of narrative and link between areas. Overall I have to say im very impressed. The render quality is high, you have considered all your shots carefully, and space has been explored in a laid back manner. My only criticism is the usage of sound effects. Its an artform in itself getting these to work. A brave attempt, but I maybe would have rolled in a sound track the built up from outside to inside.

Awesome job!! We really enjoyed it.
You had a great story to your animation-that is really important. It highlighted the experience and felt just like we were inside a bio dome. The moment between the instructor talking and people listening/ learning from him was great. Also, we liked the circular move of the center transporter structure that had the circular lights on it. The interior was amazing-there was a lot going on but nothing was too distracting. The textures were really nice and your shots were well thought out and executed nicely. Your work stood out! |

Modeling / Texturing: Amazing considering how much time you had. Very convincing throughout.
Lighting: Also very good. So much work is evident in all of the spaces you've created within the dome, and all are handled with extreme confidence and technical ability. Animation: 10 out of 10. The camera moves and soundtrack fully immerse the viewer within the scene. I really enjoyed the lack of music - it wouldn't have worked for any of the other entries, but for this one, I thought the natural sounds reinforced the immersive quality of the spaces. The sequencing is very well thought out - great job of storyboarding! Creativity: You've really figured out what the inside of the dome could be like, and the level of detail is phenomenal. Unity: The animation is very unified - nothing stands out and the transitions are well done. Of course, the overall impact is stunning. Brief: You've managed to create a thoroughly entertaining video while at the same time completely satisfying the program. I was really looking forward to seeing what you would come up with, and I have to say I'm blown away! Last edited by Scott Baumberger; June 24th, 2006 at 11:56 AM. |

Excellent work. A great tour of the project, with some excellent set pieces, and a solid focus on the natural aspects of the project. Technically superb – excellent detail where needed and great lighting. Also a good sense of foreground and background in an animation, which is rarely achieved. Nice transition to credits in the end. Also, again some nice editing, unobtrusive and adding well to the story of the place. Again, excellent work, and we look forward to seeing what you do next.
