Who all is going to both? For SIGGRAPH I'm trying to decide between the Full Conference ($850) and the Conference Select ($295). The Full Conference has all of the courses...otherwise it would be an easy decision to just do the cheaper one. Any thoughts from people who have been, this will be my first year.

We have opted for just the final two days of SIGGRAPH and the two days of DMVC. Last year we did the Conf. Select and it was fine but we were so busy in the exhibit hall we did not see much of anything else (other then the Electronic Theater which is a MUST). I think this year we will just do the Exhibit Plus and get tickets to the theater separately. It really all depends on your budget. If you can afford all of Siggraph, all of DMVC, and all of the travel and hotel...then by all means you should do it. You will have a blast.

If you can manage the fee, I would highly recommend the full conference. I went last year for the first time, and I thought the courses were the most interesting part of SIGGRAPH. A lot of these courses and lectures are geared toward programmers and scholars, so it was often over my head, but I still got a lot out of seeing what kind of new technologies are being developed. For each time slot, there were consistently 2 or 3 courses I really wanted to check out. It can be a bit overwhelming, but it's well worth it in my opinion.

For me, 5 days of exibits n stuff are a little too much, and I was thinking I would just do the final 2 days of Siggraph, but that Autodesk presentation on Monday made it all worth the whole week. I will be doing Monday through Friday again this year.
