i am having a very unusual problem processing a radiosity solution on a particular project.
essentially the radiosity solution is crashing every time, even though the settings are good. as a test, i removed all the material maps (diffuse and some bump) and it works fine. i can't understand this at all. the materials are not out of the ordinary and it is a student project where they are all using the same bitmap files. i have never had this problem before.....any suggestions ? much appreciated paul |

well, i finally solved it, but i'm still at a loss to explain
i removed the mapping on two objects (flags). these objects were extruded regions in autocad and were modeled to look like they were rippling in the breeze. i'm not sure if the geometry was too complex, but whatever the case it seems to process the solution fine now. i'm still surprised that diffuse mapping on a material would crash a radiosity solution. i have used this project for hundreds of students and i've never encountered this. |
