Default 3ds max bevel modifier

has anyone else had this problem with extruding/beveling/shelling an editable spline and having it extrude/bevel/shell in an odd direction. this happens to me when I reuse splines especially for tile building. If the splines are rotates and adjusted I usually get undesirable results when trying to pull them up.

maybe there's a simpler way to fix this instead of just redoing all the spline work.

thanks

post a screen shot / render of the problematic results, it'll help us understand the issue better

way to fix....

If you have a spline that extudes to the side, and not top to bottom you can simply draw a spline that would extrude correctly, then attach the other spline to it...it will then extrude in the correct direction.
