i'm trying to make an image
of a square pond with trees in
the middle of it. i need water
ripples that come from the trees.
so the ripples look like their
coming from the trees, then
die out to the edges.

how do i go about doing this?

You could do it with an animated bump map.

of course you could do it with an animated radial gradient ramp, but blur did a free material plugin which does exactly what you want.

http://www.blur.com/blurbeta

its called 'drip'
there is also 'rain' which randomizes and scatters multiple drips...

Hi all,

some side-line info: if you want to animate ripples from the trees - i.e. a mesh vs a texture - you could use 'splash' or 'DNT'

DNT = Digital Nature Tools (didn't this plugin changed its name?)
