Default Max or Viz?

Hi.
I'm starting out with architectural design visualization. I would like to eventually be able to create professional property presentations and walk-throughs. Any suggestions: should I use Max or Viz? I would like to customize my walk-throughs heavily and use a lot of detail.

It's possible to do everything you just said with VIZ, but I've always regretted not getting MAX. Animation is a lot better and there are small things that you don't use a lot, but come in handy every now and then...like particles and reactor things.

VIZ ain't bad, though for the money.

Started with viz , moved to a studio that works with max. As Aaron said viz will do the job but max has those extra bits that come in handy every now and again.

Gives you more options to work with, but would also sugest looking into vray if you can get somone to pay for it for you. If not mentalray is supposed to be getting better (Not sure if it comes with viz, does with max)

However it all comes down to budget, max is far more expensive than viz .

If money is an issue you could try some of the free packages , not tried them myself but some look interesting such as www.blender.org or www.kerkythea.net/joomla/index.php
