Default quick render

does anyone know how to produce quick renderings using max and vray? i always build a scene then put lights in and obviously need to tweek them a bit, but how can i render the scene to give me a quick idea of how bright the lights are? without having to wait about 20 minutes for it to render. thanks

Default Re: quick render

switch off all aa and sampling and sexy material and displace etc etc etc, turn your gi samps to -3 and -3 and lower the shadow samples.

or just to get an ambient feel for the lighting, turn off all lights and just use gi and environment gi.

it's the whole ethos of a test render in any render engine - just render the bare bones.
