Default beginner's problems

There are some things about maxwell that don't seem to click with me.

1. Where are Maxwell lights with Maxwell shadows, I use 3d studio max.
I don't understand how you are supposed to setup lights.
2. Why everytime you hit Render, a Maxwell render opens, it irritates me a little, can it be more integrated into 3dsmax, I don't want to close window everytime I test.
3. Are there any good tutorials for 3d studio Max?

thanks.
Kris.

1. Maxwell lights are created using an emitter material; basically any object in Maxwell can be a light if you apply this material to it. Try to use the most basic geometry with the fewest faces you can when making emitters because the more complex you make it the more noise it will generate.
2. Maxwell is a stand alone program that is accessed by 3D Studio through the plug-in. This is the only way for Maxwell to render you will have to get used to it.
3. Are you looking for Max tutorials or Maxwell?
