Default Andrew Lynn - WIP

Well here goes. Not actually a building yet and none of the materials are right, so I guess that's why they call it WIP. I think this is close to the shot I'm going to use, and the parts that are there are a sort of conceptual parti.

hey! Im liking your concept. But I feel that the way the image is, the board is cutting the image in half. Can't wait to see more!

intersting, but I somehow strugle with the comp. I think you need to rotate the camera more to the right so the lighthouse comes more into the frame. just a thought

coool

It's still conceptual. I like things this way, before they get all real and inevitably lose something in the process. I'm a big fan of the section-perspective in both design and representation, but since the deliverable here is a single perspective - and I think that's the most challenging aspect of this - I've decided to go with a design where the section-perspective is expressed in an elevation-perspective, and that's where I need to address the fundamentals. Program, progression, and the relationships that read on the horizontal and vertical axes - water/ground/sky, sea/land/tower. That's enough rambling about the concept for now, there's a lot on paper and I might get it caught up if I get some quality time with a scanner.

Conceptually, it still needs grounding, and half the program space. There's also a lot of work to do on the materials etc., including flipping the lights and darks in the curvy part. I'm taking a one-step-at-a-time approach to this, and will probably post too much for my own good It's my thread and I'll spam if I want to.

There is definetaly a dialog going on between those two shapes. With every WIP towards the end its going to become more and more clear. This can turn out really well. Im wondering if they become more similar or differenicated towards the end. Go with the flow!

P.S. Ill help you spam your WIP

I think you have an advantage here to raise the camera up, but not too high

Thanks. I've actually worked on the camera angle a bit, haven't had time to do much in the last couple of days but here's an update from after I changed the camera and moved things around a bit. Although I like the way the elevation perspective maintain the pure form of the diagram, I think my academic approach is going to lose out to the need for a more powerful composition, and I'll have to be content with having got this far with one of my qualification images being completely a theory piece.

I was going to be concerned with things like winds, but when I saw that we've got one guy doing a 1km long phallic symbol and another doing an artificial archipelago the size of Puerto Rico, I decided not to worry about practical concerns

I've actually changed the roof lines a bit to make it more like my original sketch where they were brush strokes, and the profile isn't quite so aggressive. I'll post some more when I get a chance.

lolll.. 'my' phallus is only 140m long, and only 35m of which is cantilevered, supported by a250m 1mdiameter longsapn steel/cable structure... but then again, that's only when it's limp

But why dont you have a certain part or extension of the wavy band wrapping around or at least approaching the tower base.. IMO, that would provide not only visual access and invitation to visitors, but would also help in saturating both objects as one AND help you structurally with ground support.

just my 5 cents... =)
