I decided to dedicate my design concept to the craftsmanship of the tower. The idea is to take the most prominent and yet unusual feature of the tower and design the visitor's center around that element. In this case, I chose the gently sloping horizontals that are probably conveying the interior stairway going up. I find it very unusual for ancient architects to do something like that, it is more like what modern design, where facade depicts the function of the interior.
Now once I have that element, I will play with it and see what will come up, but I am shooting for something made of glass, sitting somewhere outside the tower, and perhaps a dusk or night view... good luck to all and have fun doing this! |

hmmm,, why not a long glass external tunnel maybe at times goes underground and it has random opening that leads to the tower. something that would make me feel like a mole digging towards the lighthouse?! it could look like a long slinky worm,, I like the angle the swirl takes!

Yasmin13- thanks for the advice, i was thinking about long tunnel and finally stumbled upon some new idea.
i guess the best way to experience the craftsmanship of the tower is to actually touch it with your hands, so here it goes: -added ramps going all the way up to the viewing platform, this way people will experience how the tower was built and see the fine craftsmanship of the tower's exterior. -too bad only 4 days left...i got to speed it up!!! |

Very nice concept indeed. everybody wants to touch a 2000 year old creation. But i think your tower needs to be more dynamic. its looks as if the renovation work of the tower of Hercules is going on. try to avoid those three thin sticks. good luck!!

It will be both, the visitor's center, and the maintenance work installation to keep the tower from deteriorating. I will try to think of some other way to keep the platform supported, but I want to keep the structure as minimal as possible because I am already blocking some of the lighthouse. Actually non of the new structure is touching the tower, I want to make it self-supported somehow...
