You're image reminds me of the 'curl' in the "Villa VPro" in the Netherlands.
Have you see it and were you inspired by it?

Photo #1 of 4 is what reminds me of your curl.

I hope you do well in the contest - good luck!

I hadn't seen that exact building but some others like it - I was actually thinking more about Diller Scofidio and That Other Guy (just kidding, it's Renfro) than MDRDVDRDM.

Andrew, I love the building design - nice and simple without blocking any views of the tower.

However, I felt you could have developed the lighting and materials a little more - it all seems a bit flat in places (although the tower against the sky looks very realistic)

I would also have placed the camera nearer the building to show more of your scheme - as it's a relatively small building, a closer view would have explained it's design better without compromising the scene much. I guess you can focus on the close-up shots in the animation though. Best of luck!

I agree with Derek, camera closer! I want to see the the Marquette so I can look into look into...

or you could have put the camera on the boat (after you have textured it) and have something in the foreground as well. I am missing the 'composition

Time for the crit.
Its a good design very thoughtful people should enjoy it. But your image looks empty and lifeless. this is unecceptable. i agree with others about the came its to far away from your design. makes it as if its gonna slide down into the water. its more like a wip image not working as a final image for presentation. Good Luck!!

I agree with your fellow competitors. You have such wonderful shapes formulating into a piece that are lost in space. Definitely would have loved to get right in that unique design you got going for ya!

Firstly congrats on finishing your Final.
Your building looks very interesting architectural wise. It sits nicely on the cliff IMO.

Overall the image needs more work mainly in three areas - ocean water texture; cliff texture; and boat texture
Tweaking those 3 points would imporve the image quite a lot.

Wish you luck and looking forward to see the animation.
Cheers

Design wise, i think your building is fun! it's nice and pleasant...though i enjoyed it more when you were having fun with the ribbons (extensions) interacting with the lighthouse during your WIP. I kinda hoped you would pursue that design and develop it.

As for the render, i agree with the rest, it seems somewhat neglected and unfinished. I'm sure it was the time constraint though!

on a personal note, I'd put less chairs and leave more space between them on top (and don't forget the missing railings)

would be nice to see your design slide off and become a boat to tour the visitors around the site

Crap. I had some railings hidden in view and didn't notice it until just now
