Good job. Nice take and lighting. Interesting concept - i like those huge glass-like arms. But is there something wrong with ground texture? looks like tiles.

I fail to see the point of the cascading terraces you have.. just repetitive pools and ramps, with no real purpose or varied interest, and you can't even see the tower from any of them. I liked your concept, but i think you went rather commercial with the design. If you allow me to say, i think your design would be simply maginificent if you keep the two sculptural forks, and remove everything else you've built underneath the main floor.

my honest oppinion... simplify.

I just now noticed this mistake. I checked my file and I found out that I forgot to change my low resolution bump map for testing to the high resolution I created for the final version. I guess that's what happens when you take a project on the road. I wish I could correct it but I won't be leaving Chicago to Saint Louis until the end of the day on Sunday.

@ Amer,

It feels good to have your work critized with such a passion. It makes me wish I had more time to put into this first challenge. Anyway, I understand and appreciate your comments.

Hi, congrats on completing your image.
Well its looking fine altough I have some critics, mostly image based:
There is an little issue with the composition - the white 'burn' on top of the image could be less exposed revealing some water.
It would also help IMO, giving a ship or an element somewhere to the top left corner of your image.
The black lattice on the glass throughout the image takes away, its too black - giving it a little silouethe cartoony look. I noticed you changed the 'holes' on the part of the model facing the shore (if I remember your WIP correctly) which on one hand looks better - as round shapes do not neccesarily merge in places with your concept, but on the other hand left room for some more detailing.
The overall cliff has a pixelated look.
Summing it up your concept seems to be in water as well as land which leads to an interesting mixture.
Wish you good luck in the competition.

Cheers

Jakub

Ernesto,, I like your Design allot, but I feel your camera angle is to far off from the action. This shot would be excelent for an animation as it gives an overall view, but for the still imo you could have come in closer and worked a shot that had the tower, one of the long arms and one of the pools in it in deatail. Still a very good image!!

Now it wouldn't really be fair to critique the design. Given the timeframe, the design is basically a charrette. Twenty one days to conceptualize a design and render it as if it were the final solution is a tall order for anyone. Forget about the design. The final image is great. I like the lighting, composition and the overall feel. The ground texture is very interesting. I had no idea the low-res texture feature of max had a rendered result like that. Cool. Good luck with the animation.

I disagree. The design was part of the challenge, it's in play.

Hey, all I'm saying is I've seen everyone's design and they're all half-baked. Design + rendering for a project like this takes a lot longer than three weeks. If everyone had more time, it would be interesting to see what people came up with. It is what it is though. So, I'm leaving my six-shooters at the door when it comes to the design aspect of the competition.
