Default view rotate

im sure this is a rudimentary problem but for the life of me i havent been able to sort it and would very much like some assistance

im running max 2008 and the view manipulation keys dont seem to be working:

holding alt and centre mouse doesnt rotate the view

holding down centre mouse doesnt pan!!!

i keep having to use the icons in the bottom right.. very inefficient. i tried on the 2009 demo and it was doing the same thing.

any ideas?

oh, i am running a vista home ultimate too..

What about CTRL + R for view rotate?

Maybe something to do with the mouse set up? Is the middle button set as a button?

yeah nice one that works.. not quite the same as with the middle mouse and alt but an improvement. do you mean mouse settings in max or some where else?

Did you recently install a new mouse? I have had this problem before. if you install a new mouse say a logitec or microsoft they come with their own software where you can configure the button action. This will sometimes throw all your applications out of whack. The middle button will default to some thing like "scroll" and will no longer operate at a middle click.

Hope that helps,

Dave
