Default "No Video" on new PC

Hey,

I finally got round to buying and building my new PC, I got it all built, updated the BIOS on my P5Q Pro mobo without a hitch using ezflash. Installed my nice new Vista 64 Ultimate disk fine. Got up and running and started installing drivers, lastly was to download the latest vista 64 drivers for my nvidia 8800 gt card, that also installed without a hitch and had the highest res possible displaying on my bravia in my living room (temporary home till I set it up in my office). Now, I logged out after doing this, vista shut down an gave me the correct screen, but then my pc wouldn't switch off, I had to press and hold power button till it did. Now whenever I try to switch it on I get no signal at all from my video card, I can't tell if it's booting up or not, all the fans work fine, the hard drive sounds like its spinning although I'm not 100% sure. The green light on the receiver for my wireless keyboard and mouse doesn't come on at all, which it did before, to allow me to navigate round my BIOS.

I really don't know what the problem is and I have unplugged everything including the graphics card and put everything back and it's still happening.

Any help or suggestions on this will be GREATLY appreciated, I need to get this workstation up and running as a matter of urgency and this is a delay I can so do without right now

Thanks
Mark

I think the problem is with you TV. Try booting up the computer again without it hooked up to the TV and once you think the computer is fully booted up plug it back into the TV again. Also your computers resolution has to be set to a resolution that the TV can understand. You should check your TV manual to see what this is.

It would be good to if you had a old monitor around so that you could check it this way.

It could be any number of things.

Did you install your INF chipset driver imediately after Vista before any other drivers? This is vitial as it tells the OS what functions the motherboard has and how to use them. If not, you could try a re-install of windows, making sure that you reboot between driver install too.

Try not to do it all in one go - slip in a few shutdowns and start-ups to make sure things are going okay.

hey guys, thanks for the replies.

@Macer - Once I installed vista I used the disk from asus and installed everything using "InstALL" which does everything in order, starting with the chipsets IIRC. which leads me to beleive baker1444 might have it right, I'll get the new pc in here and plug my monitor in, see if it works. But if it doesn't and I do need to reinstall stuff, I don't know how I would go about it as I can't get any signal from my graphics card, my mobo also doesn't have a built in 1, and sadly I dont have any PCI-E cards lying around, I only have 2 AGP cards.

Anyway I'll report back once it's all wired up in my office
Thanks again
Mark
