If you're going to use AVG, do the webmasters of the world a favour and don't install the AVG LinkScanner option as it's increased global traffic significantly http://it.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=08/07/03/1411254. An alternative is McAffee's SiteAdvisor (for Firefox and I.E.) http://www.siteadvisor.com/
A good (and free) software firewall is Comodo http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/overview.html Last edited by shaneis; July 8th, 2008 at 10:25 PM. |

Hi,
With XP64 edition I found NOD 32 V.3 very fast and stable, a good web traffic control and compatible with internal XP Firewall (As I have Router with Firewall I only use XP firewall in addtion). The think i like NOD32 is, when surfoing if a website have a worms or somethings inside, NOD disable the worms and give me the hand to continue surf on in secure mode. You can also think to install Spy Bot search & Destroy, free and very good to protect your computer about Spyware and Rootkit. |
