Default AXYZ model problem for Vray

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up on this ( http://www.axyz-design.com/axyz-desi...d-cwom0001.php) AXYZ design HD model. It was created with Mental Ray and the Vray material converter won't automatically convert the materials. I'm looking for another way to convert them but if I can't find one I'll have to do it manually and I think it will take quite a while and probably won't look as good as what the AXYZ people did. I didn't realize it was a Mental Ray model at the time because none of their other models were created in this way.

I read a thread a few weeks back on the chaosgroup site about Vlado was going to try to implement a mental ray to vray material converter.

we bougth the same AXYZ people for 2 years ago. dunno how the materials are delivered now. we did change the TIF textures to JPG, open the people with max, assign new vray materials with the JPG and save them again.

...and after 2 years of using them all the time, I sudenly hate them

btw, in the last "nigth time" render you made Davin, I saw the same people....love the blody render but had a hard time not mentioning the ugly people!

Not sure about this, but I did read that Chaos Group is working on supporting the Arch & Design materials directly in Vray, without conversion.

I know what you mean, they are ok from a distance but up close they are really bad. Unfortunately I haven't found anything that looks or works better than they do and I've looked everywhere.

I have fixed the model, it did require that I redo all the Mental Ray materials but it does work now.
