Default Leather material

Hi i have been trying to create a leather material now for a few days but cant get it to look any good i have been using this tutorial as a test. Has any 1 tryed this? http://www.tutorialized.com/view/tutoria...-ray/25933
my leather look like stone/ rocks! I tried to turn the bump down but still no look! Any ideas please?

That link didn't work for me, but these steps might help

Setup the diffuse bitmap
Set a falloff in the reflection slot with the type as fresnel and your bump map (or reflection map if you have one) in the white slot
reflect glossies to .55
bumpmap to whatever looks best


Thats the general setup I'd probably use. I've done this off the top of my head so I might have got a few things wrong. The tutorial you were looking at might have already suggested that setup.

Don't forget that the material won't look good with bad lighting, so that might be something to check as well.

Hi thanks for the reply, the lighting is ok. I have posted my settings below and a picture of the leather. I have made the bump amount smaller but get the exact same results, crazy bumps. I have tried golss at .55.

I think you need change something:
reflect: 30-50
refl. glossy: about 0.5-0.7
check bump map, I think now it's too much bump, and check uvw map also
