please give your honest opinion to the image attached.

I am new to Vray Render and having trouble with getting the lighting effect i desire, i would welcome any suggestions...

in the scene i currently have a vray plane for the window, and two vray spheres in the scene...

im not using hdri as it wouldnt effect the interior, nor photometric lighting (still researching into settings).

Also, i'm having trouble with the chair leather material.

*thank you for your response, im sorry i've not been able to reply back, i keep getting message about 10 threads and spam... I expected my setting was incorrect.

I am using gi.. primary bounce is set to (1) and irradiance map, secondary (0.75) Light chase. with GI Caustics i have refractive selected and post-processing settings at sat (1) contrast (1.4) contrast base (o.5)

Hi Emma,

Nice image. I'm not sure what the problem is with the lighting apart from it maybe being a bit cold.
A bit more light strength and warmth and it would look great.

The bump on the floor seems to be misaligned with the color map.
Oh and how did you do that towel? Is it a clip map?

your shadows are very dark too. this can be controlled using colour mapping.

are you using GI (global illumination)? The shadows are very dark, which suggests that ur not, and you'll find it looks a lot more realistic with lighter shadows.

Agree with the above. I think it looks pretty good. What is the lighting effect that you desire? Possibly try using Reinhard color mapping with burn .8 or less. Maybe add a slight bit of color to the lights.

The joints in the floor material are distracting to my eye, maybe make them narrower, darker and recessed a little bit.

Look on vray-materials.de for a (free) leather material. Modify it to suit your lighting etc.

Hope this helps.

Nice image! Personally I wouldnt have caustics on unless there was a specific reason (like you wanted accurate liquid caustics, or you were doing a closeup of a solid glass object). Also I wouldnt make the secondary bounces 0.75... but thats just personal

If you are having trouble getting light under some objects, sometimes setting up an invisible white plane at an angle can help 'bounce' light underneath it. Maybe if you post the rest of your setting someone might be able to help you further.

Good work though.
