Well, it's got a lot of RAM and 64 bit. The CPU is not good by today's standards and neither is the video card.

with this PC to down(up)grade to XP ( i have done it to several of this model) you need to have the SATA drivers unique to this machine, search google and you will learn more and find those drivers and people talking about how to make it work with the F6 on install method.

The processor is ok. The real down side is that you are unable to overclock the processor to get more out of it, unless you can successfully use SEtFSB, which some Dells can do.
The gfx card will be an easy upgrade, but make sure the power supply can support it.

I am curious to the price you can get it for?

i agree about the gfx card 100% but the processor is fine. I actually have the same proc in my workstation at work and it renders fine. It isn't extremely fast, but that will be fixed when Podium 2.0 comes out( We use Podium for are renderings---the draw back now is it is only a single core application.) Then again, I guess it all depends on the type of work load for each individual...based off the OP's use, I think the proc would be fine.

With the spec's the Op mentioned, I doubt it...I was trying to determine if for the OP's sake, if he got it for a good deal, that it would be worth it in regards to gfx card upgrade.

the reason i suspect that go for so cheap is because of the issues with them having a unique issue with XP, besides that's how Craiglist goes, under valued on everything.

You'll need to look around for what's available in your market but I'd never spend that much on a PC that weak. It doesn't have to say "workstation" - a PC built for gamers can be just as good.
