Not all of it. Just the 98% controlled by developers.

You'd be suprised how different many projects look before developers chop them down due to expense.

Wow you must have an impressive people library. That would drive me crazy putting all those people in. The presentations are nice.

i understand that completely. however, it IS possible to poduce good design for a low price. "design" is not exclusive to "expensive". one example would be pre-fabricated housing. of course they are not all good, but the successful ones combine design rigor with the economies of scale. check out www.fabprefab.com.

don't worry, i see the same thing in europe. people everywhere build hideous buildings. i take almost personal offense at the use of historical classical order in strip malls and the like. is there any better way to denigrate classical doric or corinthian order by slapping it on a metal building with a Fred's discount store inside? let's not even get into post modernism, my head might explode.

while there are numerous example of great architecture in the US, i was making a sarcastic comment based only on the images in this post. also, i was not degrading the quality of your visualization work, but the quality of the design in general.

i am a southern boy who grew up in mississippi and arkansas, so i have perspective in this matter.

True but it's not restricted to America, is it?

I totally understand your point and I can't argue one thing you said. I've learned in my 4 years of working with architects and designers that many of them want to design something original, something that fits the project, weather it be a town center, strip mall, office structure, parking, etc, but so many times the client has such a fixed hold on what they want.

I also work in an office where I started the 3D Department here, before me, it was outsourced. The company is full of architects that are more knowleadgable in the architectural field than I, since their field is not what I went to school for. My department is merely one of the "other" departments they rely on to express their vision, and they usually make it pretty clear that "they are better".

After 4 years however, I feel many times I put together a better "looking" building for the projects. They usually get revised or changed (not because they are structurally unsound) but because the ego's in the office place in this line of work are higher than the clouds.

As for a timeline, any given project I posted above or in the link I pasted to you is done from scratch in 4 days or less. From concept, to modelling, rendering, and photoshop. Deadlines are not something that is managed well here and I currently have 3 people in my department total and we're usually split on different projects.

Can anyone else give any feedback on their deadlines or work experience as a visualist in an architectural field?
