This may have been covered before, but I have never found an adequate answer, the question of how big a piano is.
First of all, not all pianos of a 'class' are the same size, so there isn't ONE correct answer. I have found various CAD symbols and some 3D models, but they vary enough that I cannot tell who's right, and their keyboards are often layed out wrong. I have some plan photos that are my best hope... So all I really want to know is this: How wide is an octave, CL to CL, on a grand piano? I have counted that on grands (from photos, I don't have one handy) there are 7 full octaves (Bflat to Bflat) plus one key at the bass end and two keys at the other--starting at low A and ending at high C. If I know the width of a standard octave I can size any image and build my model over it. Or if anyone can point me to a detailed, accurate plan, I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance |

Maybe either of these will help?
http://www.stuartandsons.com/Shippin...Dimensions.htm http://www.pianopiano.com/bechmod.html Maybe not quite what you are looking for, but doesn't hurt to try. -Chad |
