Well maybe not insider info, but feature news that is not mentioned in the Discreet PR:
- Share data with design solutions such as AutoCAD, ADT, Inventor and Revit - Additional integrated workflow with Autodesk VIZ with ability to directly open VIZ and VIZ Render file - Supports data exchange with all industry design solutions supporting DWG, DXF, SAL and IGES - Unique render to texture feature facilitates physically accurate interactive visualization - Unlimited distributed network rendering via integrated render management software - mentalray rendering now included with each 3ds max6 license, is tightly integrated and accessible directly though an intuitive UI for advanced rendering - Additional support for the best commercial 3rd party rendering solutions inclusing, PRman, Brazil, Vray and finalRender - Integration with Discreet's Combustion - Integration with Discreet's Cleaner More news from the MAX 6 Launch party: - Physically based materials like those found in Ligtscape. In fact thet are the exact same templates with the additonal of a few others. They use the exact same algorithms as Lighscape so LS user will be able to get images that look just like LS with the same ease. - New particle system called particle flow that is an event driven particle system. - Powerful vertex painting tools - Tabbed rendering dialog box that combines all of the rendering windows together - Integrated mentaray licence. The licence allows the user to render with MR on their desktop and use that same licence as a network license via BackBurner as long as the license is not in use by the destop version. You can not do network bucket rendering from inside of max however without additonal MR licenses. If anyone has questions about MAX 6, let me know and I'll let you know what I can.

Hi Jeff!
Just got a few questions to ask .. Is it going to replace VIZ? Does MAX 6 support IES lights? Is it going to support adaptive meshing (like in LS)? Just those 2 question for now -RM

The MAX6 rtelease is more of an architectural release that anything else so it much better than 5 in that respect
