Hello.
I am new to this site and to the 3d architectural rendering community. I've been trying to catch up to the wanderful work ive seen in this site, but it's tough to do so. I've noticed though that most of you use alpha maps for people, plants and cars. I went to a site where they gave those but they were around 300 dollars each for people, trees, and cars. Is there anywhere where i might get good alpha maps for free or at low charge?

IN all honesty, without spending any money, the best images are taken and alpha'd out by yourself. While of course this takes time instead of money, even though they can be counted as the same thing in alot of cases. Take a photo of a car/person/tree, keeping in mind the lighting conditions (angle, intensity, etc.) as your planning on using in the model. Import it into your favorite photo program and crop out your subject. Then fill in your subject with pure white while the rest fo the image is pure black. Load the diffuse and alpha images into their appropriate places and enjoy!
David Barbarash P.S. If high res isn't an issue, search the nets various clip-art gallaries and just save the web images for free. Jus tbeware of copyright infringement..... |
