I'm in the process of trying to find space for the 2004 SIGGRAPH CGarchitect.com event and need to book space right away. The last 2 years the event was held at a hotel in proximity to the Conference center, but I am also looking for other less expensive alternatives. (Restuarants, Design Museums, etc etc). Hotels charge a HUGE premium (Usually 20%+) on food and drinks, so I'm looking for any locals to Los Angeles of area to post suggestions or email me. If you have ideas, please let me know ASAP.
It's very hard to tell how many people will attend, but last year we had about 120 people. Cheers, Jeff

You might try a little advertising agency called Chiat/Day in Santa Monica. They have a pretty big space, of course they might be using it, but maybe someone there would know a great place to hold a convention.
There is also the Moma (museum of modern art), LACMA (la county museum of art), UCLA's Architecture facility on Campus in Westwood, I don't know how cheap it would be, but the Getty Museum up on the Hill in Santa Monica. I actually am still ind of new to the LA area but someone I work with emailed me this info. Maybe it will help. Holli-

I KNOW THIS POST IS LOOKING FOR PLACES OTHER THAN HOTELS, HOWEVER, THE HOTELS DOWNTOWN ARE LIKELY TO BE VERY HUNGRY. WHO WOULD WANT TO STAY IN DOWNTOWN LA?
A LISTING OF HOTELS IN THE DOWNTOWN AREA http://www.l-a-downtown-hotels.com/L...sHomePage.html THE MILLINEUM BILTMORE SOUNDS GOOD AND FROM THE ROOM RATES THEY ARE NOT TOO FAR OFF BASE. " A historic landmark, the Millennium Biltmore Hotel, Los Angeles has been home to presidents, kings and Hollywood celebrities since it opened in 1923. A full array of concierge services, health club facilities and business services are offered in the old-world charm and elegance of great European hotels. Call Monday-Friday 6:00am-9:00pm & weekends 8:00am-6:00pm Pacific Time 800 805 8210 " THIS IS DOWNTOWN BUT I HAVE KNOW IDEA WHERE. MUST BE WELL HIDDEN. LOOKS COOL! AND THEY WILL HOST AN EVENT OR PARTY BUT WITH STUDIOS IN ITS NAME IT'S MOST LIKELY $$$$$$$$$$$ http://www.lacenterstudios.com/ THESE NEXT TWO ARE OUTFITS THAT WILL HANDLE EVERYTHING FROM LOCATION TO NAPKINS. http://www.bobgail.com/ http://www.btb-events.com/locations.htm AND JUST FOR TRIVIA, DOWN THE ROAD AWAYS FROM YOUR HOTEL IS THE BEVERLY WILSHIRE WHICH WAS THE LOCATION FOR PRETTY WOMAN. http://www.seeing-stars.com/Hotels/B...Wilshire.shtml UP THE STREET FROM THIS HOTEL, ON RODEO DR. I THINK , THERE IS A F.L.W. BUILDING. A SMALL RETAIL SHOP ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE STREET. I WILL GET THE ADDRESS IF ANY ONE WANTS IT. |
