Question How to reflect opacity?

HI all, I would appreciate if someone could help me with this

I’ve made a gate for a porch with an opacity map (just to cut the poly count), but the problem is that the window in front of the porch has a raytraced material on it and it reflects the gate, like if it isn’t 100% opacity

So the question is how I make the raytrace material to reflect a map that has an opacity map in it, correctly, or maybe the problem is in the gate material.

Thanks

Dear Jaco,

I tried generating the error but dont seem to have the problem as yours.
2 things ti cross check:

a. in gate material , keep specular level and glossiness to 0
b. i have a strong feeling that the white reflection you are getting is the ground on the opposite side (behind the camera). Try to pull the ground object quite a much away from the building to reflect on the entire glass. you may also consider removing the ground from the reflection. right-click on the object ->properties->include in reflection/refraction.

Thanks

Default Re: How to reflect opacity?

Dear virses,

A) The specular levels are set to 0, if it wouldn’t you would have see it on the gate.
B) I know it is the gate, because I took it off and it was fine

Anyway I got it partially,
I’ve put a Falloff Map Type Perpendicular / Parallel with settings, front: white & 50% raytrace map, and side: black & 50% raytrace for the reflect map, so the faces facing the camera will be more reflective and the ones facing away less reflective to get a more realistic reflection in the windows (in my opinion).

And somehow this falloff map is causing the problem, because when I change the falloff to a regular raytrace map its fine, but I can’t figure out why it’s so.

Thanks for trying to help,
