Does Any One Knows If There Is A "cook Book" For Materials In Viz?

I Have A Friend That Uses Sg Studio Tools And He Have A Book Thats Explains Step By Step Complex Materials........i Am Looking For That In Viz..anyone Knows Where A Can Get It...

Ps. Didnt Find It In Amazon, Barnes & Nobles And Newriders

you would probably have better luck if you looked for a max materials book.

My question to you would be different - do you need complex materials? Materials in MAX and VIZ are capable of doing a lot of things, that's true.

But using the Arch material in VIZ 2005 should get you much farther with a much simpler material.

Just my opinion, anyway.

well, with complex material i mean more than a simply photo map and a little bump you know...ist just that i can make metal looks real...and some times my textures dont work well, so i suposed its need to be more than jpg and a little bump to get results like other guys from here.

thanks for your comments.
i have seen some of the montree tutorial, for lighting.....and he messes with ambient light...so i supouse he dont use radiosity...didint realize he have tuts for materials , ill check it out.

elliot: i found another source...is from a guy that uses brazil 1.2(dont know wha the heck is that it seems that is similar for 3d max).any way...he explains how he make shaders (materials). (but im keep looking for my cook book)hahaha

Hi Carlos

If I were you, I'd look for tutorials on MAX/VIZ Procedural materials.
They -can- take a little longer to Render, but the results a really worth it - none of those awful pattern repeats, and far more down-&-dirty realism, as you are simulating the physical makeup of the object.
