Hi
I have been having to make several textures for lo-poly mapping buildings. Does anyone have some good tips out there for this process? So far, I've been taking phtographs and curing them to map onto massing and box like geometry. They have been turning out pretty decent, but I want to learn more about making teh textures really nice insead of just looking lke a cropped photograph. How can I make them more dimensional? Thanks |

Not that I have much experience with it, but the most impressive low poly models (I am working with some real time modeling) I've seen are a combination of great textures and a little modeling. You have to decide what to model and what not to. A big box with just a flat map and flat windows will look like a video game if seen up close, so model the window holes and map the windows form the photo onto the plane that files the hole. This will give you some depth.
It just depends on how low you have to go. Sometimes you can't get away with a flat facade. |
