I writing a short paper on Dynamic Simulation software in design and film focusing on softbodies, but also including rigid bodies. Does anyone have web resources discussing the history of this technology?
As far as I know Star Wars Ep1 was the first main stream use of this technology but my DVD glosses over it with absolutely no detail. |

Spawn in 1997 used dynamic simulation for certain cape scenes (and maybe animated chains) and it was, by no means, one of the first films to do so.
Check the Siggraph Elec. Theater archives. Produced in 2001: Advanced Rule-Based Simulation for "Check-in To Disaster" - CA Scanline Production |
