Default Displacement problem

We are trying to make our siding appear more realistic, but ran into a small snag. We've created a displacement map to give the siding a 3D profile, the final rendering looks good on the front with the shadows correctly representing the irregularity of the siding. But along the side as you get closer to the ground the siding appears to become flat and no longer has a profile. See red circle.

We are using MAX 6, with VRAY 1.09.03r

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like a sampling / resolution issue. Have you tried rendering out larger image format, like 2400x1200 for example. Or increase the level at which Vray samples and applies GI to a smaller area unit.

Thumbs up Re: Displacement problem

Well, despite that problem, your rendering looks very very realistic.

I would say that the displacement problem is a resolution issue also. If the image is at a higher resolution, the farther away part will probably come out clearer.

I had a similar problem with some distant areas as well. I was using Vray, so maybe it's inherent with the GI calculations?

I would like to know how you did your grass? Was that a displacement map also? Please let me know how you did your grass!

Great rendering!

If you want that grass, you have to be using vray displacement. You will find that grass mat. easily if you go to the Vray forum and search for grass displacement.
