Default new RPC trees - 3D or cutouts?

I am having trouble getting the Photoshop plugin for RPC stuff to work. It used to, but I must be doing something wrong.

Anyway, I downloaded the free sample of the new RPC trees to check it out. Can't see it until I solve the above. Are these new trees 3D like the RPC cars, or more like traditional cutouts, with just one viewing angle?

I think the newest RPC trees are just cutouts with one viewing angle.

I remember there was something strange the way the plugin worked--like it didn't install where it was supposed to. I think I had to manually copy the files to the right directory.

The latest collection of trees is a high-res collection, and only have one viewing angle. The images are about 2700 pixels wide if I'm not mistaken...
The 3D trees are on their way!!

Thanks, Michiel for the email.

I THINK I have the PS plugin installer properly (I will check by your instructions) it just doesn't seem to want to locate the DLed content.

Yes, it's the 3D trees that I was most interested in. They would be hard to produce, but once done, would be VERY valuable in production.

I've seen several examples in animations of the new 3D trees.... one word: AWESOME!!!!!
I'll try to get my hands on one, to see how they work and if my scripts will still work on them.

When you say 3D, do you mean they work from all angles? Not just from eye-level like the current RPC trees? That would be good....

And thats exactly what they are.. The polygon count is more than one.. dont know exactly how many, but at least fewer than every other tree solution. The new ones (that ARE NOT released yet) will have a viewing angle of 360 degrees by 270 degrees... So looking straight up at a tree will not be possible... But who needs that anyway...

That will definitely be nice then. One of the bad things about RPC's is that you can't look at them from an aerial viewpoint.

I've been using basic X-trees, which obviously have the same problem.

If I know I will have to do a lot of aerial viewing, I could re-design the trees to include a 'top' to help with that, but it;s still not a perfect solution.
