Default Standard lighting in VIZ 2005

In viz 2005, everytime I start a new project, architectural material is the default material in the material editor. Also when I choose a standard colour and apply it to the mesh (even with no lights) the render seems like it is geared towards a radiosity soloution (giving a bleached look).

Does anyone know how to go back having the "standard" materials as the default material as well having a non-radiosity lighting system as it is in viz 4? I have tried going into the radiosity dialog box turning the "no solution" feature on but still giving that bleached look.

Right now the only solution that works is - I goto my max 4, then setup a quick scene (using standard material) save it and then open it up in viz2005.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

well i am guessing this ...because i dont have viz 2005 ..... but in max 6 if you go to

Customize > Customize UI and defaults switcher > Intial settings for tools > Max

it will go back to standard materials

if it is in design viz then it will become all architectural materials and radiosity solutions

Unfortunately I don't see anything about viz standard. Only default viz which it is at now, or default mental ray. I guess its a viz thing.

Just make sure you disable the Log Exposure Control and your renders should look fine.
