Hello Guys

I am researching on the theory of radiosity. The way radiosity works and how it calculates and works in softwares like 3ds max 5.

Can anyone suggest me the best place to start out with knowing the fundamentals till all the theory of radiosity.

Thanks
Kalyan

Try looking at the beginners... LIGHTSCAPE by autodesk. This is the first radiosity renderer I know and maybe they will give you some explanation about their solution.

'Rendering with Radiance' by Greg Larson and Rob Shakespeare ia an excellent book that goes through many different methods in detail. I highly recommend it from a research point of view.

Here are some links I've found very helpful in learning about the theory behind various methods for calculating Global Illumination.

The clearest explanation of the Radiosity method I've found:
http://freespace.virgin.net/hugo.eli.../radiosity.htm

Global Illumination Compendium
http://www.cs.kuleuven.ac.be/~phil/GI/

Henrik Wann Jensen developed Photon Mapping, the GI system used in Cinema 4D, Brazil, and others. This is his home page:
http://graphics.ucsd.edu/~henrik/

Hope this helps,
Jack
