just a suggestions for the future challenges:
the resolution of 1000pixel is not really much. many details are lost and canīt be seen. and especially for the future challenges it maybe would make sense to render in higher resolutions. any ideas to change that ?

Yes ! agree with that ! but actually for the finals of Challenge#1, i ask to Jeff in an earlier thread about rendering higher than 1000... 1300 was ok for him...but should change the rules about the resolution and the upload kb limits ! ( 400k in jpg for ex..)

This image resolution thing still requires clarification. The 200k jpeg limit sensibly deals with bandwidth constraints, reasonable accessibility through web browsers etc.
The 1000 (1300?) pixel maximum resolution does not really have any bearing on the above. It would be good to be able to make decisions on aspect ratio without being constrained by a maximum long side resolution. i.e. 3:1 may suit a competitor better than 1:1 for compositional reasons. Or am I missing something? P.S. A 200k jpeg seems to offer better value than a 400K png. How abouts a 400k jpeg? |

I have a suggestion for high resolution rendering :
Why not put, in the same post, a high resolution image link on our own server as a plus, with the limited 200k final image attachment? I mean, the 2nd challenge is judged on technical difficulty, and high detailling a scene is a part of "technical difficulty" i think. But if we can't see details, that's a problem. What do you think, Jeff? Last edited by Newke; April 6th, 2005 at 03:56 AM. |
