‘Baa’
The Fall

Recently I got the chance to hear a speech from Ross Calia, Ross is a talented multidisciplinary creative specialist. Well known for his addictive sound composing integration into varied project typologies, Ross’s humble speech inspired and provoked me as a visual artist to rethink the way I extract concepts from images.

Learning the limits and possibilities of aural and visual translation when it comes to conveying the conceptual message, I tried to sketch down what I think is hearable that viewers can ‘see’: people or animal’s activities, lighting shift, moving weather and shaking vegetation...etc

‘Baa’ is the outcome of this brainstorming process.

The FALL is middle-hill seated, surrounded by moving nature. In the attempt of putting the livable creatures closer, imagination gives a second of popping up the animal’s sound in our head before scattering the eye through the windy meadow to uncover the architectural object. As natural as reality, the context is built in advance and the look-out structure flows along with the topography, blending itself to be part of the scenery.

Defying the rot, the darkroom gradually becomes re-embedded into the fabric of the ever-growing city, forever occupying the brief slice of time between the recent past and the near next, developing images of and by the city ad Infinitum.

One weekend morning of spring 2040, when those first rays of dawn were not much higher than the horizon, sitting by the window and sipping the first cup of coffee, you don’t hesitate, about your schedule today because, like all New Yorkers already knew, today is the day that the ARM welcomes its first explorers to set foot on the new horizon hovering above Hudson Yards.

Today’s news feed of all social networks will be flooded with images of the highest aerial walk check-in. But before you get into that bustling atmosphere, you might want to give yourself a few minutes looking towards the new structure, the moment you know that structure will forever be part of the city, touching the spirit and culture of so many people who come, stay and leave this place.

Just like 20 years ago when the Edge first opened, the ARM today will follow the dream of providing a higher and farther, of connect and inspire people vision.

The "Urban Farm Temple" image was a bonus for myself after I submitted my thesis project "Orchard Jenga".

Time flew quickly through the design development process in my last design studio (Melbourne Cool Lines!), right before the final submission day, after trying to finish the physical model, I only have three days to prepare diagram drawings and render images. The result for squeezing out three nights was the Orchard Jenga renderings I showed in the last post. But then when I handed in my project portfolio I had an idea for the interior design for the urban farm. I came back home and looked at those reference tabs and 3d files that were still opened and decided to extend a bit of time before getting too tired with the interior view. Quite an amount of coffee was consumed and I got the Urban Farm Temple render as you are seeing. The render got lucky enough to help me had a chance to participate in the VR model production for Melbourne Design Week Exhibition of Melbourne Cool Lines! Studio in April (fortunately before Covid hit Australia).

We plan and fulfil our dreams in stages with prestigious progress and patiently wait for the results at the final destination.

One evening in the autumn of October 2035, when the weather had turned cold, the ARM construction site workers were delighted to complete the final structural skeleton before handing over to MEP departments, one big step closer to the mission of bridging mankind to each other.

Personal project created to explore sophisticated mood, atmospherics and painting refinement.

I've been lately amazed by Trabi Taxi Berlin transportation and Valerio Olgiati architecture "Yellow House" that I felt I had to create an image about.
Taxi is modeled in 3ds Max and Yellow House is modeled in ZBrush to have some challenge to achieve.

All modeled from scratch except foreground character which is photography and base background Kitbash3D buildings which I reworked.
