An image depicting Park Hill in Sheffield, UK.

Park Hill is a council housing estate in Sheffield which was built in the 1950's under the mantra 'Streets In The Sky' – milk floats and caretakers vehicles were able to drive around the communal corridors up to 8 storeys high!

Over the last 60+ years Park Hill has fallen into a serious state of disrepair. Despite this, it was given Grade 2 listed Building Status in 1998 as an example of Brutalist architecture - making it the largest listed building in Europe.

It is currently being refurbished by Urban Splash and Phase 1 of the refurb was nominated for The RIBA Sterling Prize in 2013.

The image shows part of Park Hill in its current state.

The best thing about working on non-commissioned stills is the free reign you get with artwork, clutter and those personal touches that put a bit of your own personality into a CGI.

The old Wembley stadium which sat on the site of the current incumbent before its demolition in 2003.

Modeled partly from memories of past visits, and partly by trawling the internet for reference photographs! I also had a bit of help from a downloaded massing model which was useful to get a grasp on scale and rough heights.

The view is looking down the famous Wembley Way - a walk made by hundreds of thousands of football fans over the years - I wanted to give the image a grand, almost gladiatorial feel but also a tinge of sadness that its no longer standing.

Modeled in 3DSMax, rendered in Vray, post production in Photoshop.

Hope you like it, I had fun doing it!

We'd put this tower design together for a tender bid and I thought I'd see what it looked like in my home city!

Put together using a combination of:

Sketchup for concept modelling
3DSMax for detail modelling
Vray for lighting, textures and render
Photoshop for post production and composition.
