George Tice's Petit’s Mobil Gas Station, Cherry Hill, NJ 1974

George Tice is a renowned American photographer and printer born in 1938 in Newark and who in 1974 included his photograph “Petit’s Mobil Gas Station, Cherry Hill, New Jersey” in his Urban Landscapes series.

This photograph taken with a large format camera always impressed me with its careful composition, its curious lighting and the suggestive atmosphere it achieves, then Bill Frisell chose it for the cover of his album Blues Dream in 2001 and I really liked the association between that image and that music ...

As part of a constant training and in the midst of confinement due to the pandemic, it seemed appropriate to me to try to represent that lighting and model that peculiar architecture learning from the masters.
