Marlin Studios offers downloadable CD-Rom Texture and 3D Model Libraries

ARLINGTON, TX -- Graphics studio and digital content publisher Marlin Studios has announced a new online delivery system for its product line of textures and 3D models on CD-Rom. Worldwide customers can now download products after they place orders, rather than waiting for receipt of content with conventional air and ground shipping methods.

The online delivery system offers state-of-the art Web technology, with built-in accelerators to increase the speed of downloading large files.
Customers are offered, via email, the option of downloading entire CD-Rom libraries after purchase. Login IDs and passwords are then emailed and products are immediately available for download. Physical copies of the CD-Roms are still shipped to the customer via conventional methods to ensure a permanent backup of files.

According to Company President Tom Marlin, the download system revolutionizes the way Marlin Studios interacts with its customer base.

"Our customers are in a competitive, demanding environment and need digital content now, not in a few days or a week," Marlin said. "This is especially true for our global market, where normal and expedited shipping methods can get very expensive and may not arrive by the time a project is due.

"As an example, a customer in Portugal desperately needed one of our products. He ordered the product on a Saturday morning for a project that was due the following Monday. He downloaded our product that afternoon and, by Sunday night, he had completed the project. This service wouldn't have been possible, even a year ago, because of lower connection speeds."

"US customers also benefit from the download service - especially those who in the past would pay for overnight delivery, which can get quite expensive. Now, at no extra charge, they can download orders immediately and avoid extra shipping charges."

Marlin Studios reports download times per CD-Rom ranging from 8 minutes in the US and 20 minutes overseas on high speed broadband. Download times vary at lower speeds, depending on the customer's connection and current Web traffic.
