ARTVPS Launches Latest Software Release

ARTVPS, an industry leader in advanced rendering technology and 3D visualisation expertise has launched the latest version of its RenderPipe software.

The latest incarnation of ARTVPS’s ray tracing software includes a number of new features designed to improve workflow and provide significant performance benefits for both 3dsmax and Maya users working in the architecture industry.

Unlike traditional rendering software, RenderPipe AV5.0 can isolate rendering tasks as separate, standalone processes. Utilising a RIB Control Management tool, RenderPipe now allows scheduling and control of any number of large rendering jobs, without processes competing for limited resources. This eliminates the risk of failed jobs through computers locking up and makes it possible to produce very high-resolution 3D images.

One of the first customers to benefit from the latest version of RenderPipe is leading virtual photography agency, Protograph Ltd. www.protograph.com. Commenting on the software’s functionality, Mark Segasby, company director at Protograph Ltd, said: “AV5 has proved to be a significant improvement for our rendering workflow. The tessellation of fine nurbs has been much enhanced and the addition of visible area lights makes our studio lighting workflow much faster and has great results.”

Brian Tyler, CEO at ARTVPS, said: “This release of RenderPipe sees a wealth of new features that will benefit all users and provide them with a fast and effective rendering experience. Building upon proven technology, RenderPipe AV5.0 adds another level of functionality to both PURE and RenderDrive users and integrates fully with their 3D application. With further releases planned for later this year there are some exciting developments to our rendering technology to look out for throughout 2006.”

As well as providing standard full colour and alpha rendering formats, users are also able to render separate sub-sets of the complete colour image when using Renderpipe AV5.0 with an Alias Maya plug-in. Separate layers can be rendered according to beauty (the full colour image), colour (beauty without shadows), diffuse and specular passes.

Users of 3dsmax will also see benefits, with extended Rendering Elements in RPF and RLA file formats available with Renderpipe AV5.0. Using the RPF format, users will be able to render specific channels, such as velocity, UV chords, z-depth, material effects, object node and non-clamped colour to create truly photorealistic images.

RenderPipe AV5.0 supports ARTVPS RenderDrive and can be used with 3dsmax and Maya programmes.

About ARTVPS

ARTVPS leads the way in the development of photorealistic visualisation systems that generate truly realistic images.
