3D World Architectural Visualization Supplement

3D World unveils the bigger picture of architectural visualisation
Exclusive architectural supplement provides first in-depth analysis of industry

Bath, UK, 25 May 2006 – This week, Future Publishing’s 3D World – the only international magazine for 3D artists, unveils the facts and figures from the 2006 Architectural Visualisation Industry Survey and provides the most in-depth analysis of this CG sector to date.

The report is part of a 44-page supplement dedicated to the burgeoning architectural visualisation sector: the art of creating virtual representations of how new buildings will look in their environment once they are built.

Working with online architectural community CGarchitect.com, over 2,000 professionals have been surveyed to contribute to the largest ever study of working conditions, demographics, business and growth potential, as well as software and hardware requirements within this market. CGarchitect.com and 3D World have processed hundreds of pages of data to produce an incisive eight-page report on the state of the industry.

Elsewhere in the supplement, readers have the opportunity to see into the future, with the most up-to-date visualisation of London’s proposed skyline circa 2020.

Alongside such familiar silhouettes as Tower Bridge and St. Paul’s Cathedral, the images feature 18 new buildings currently on the drawing board such as Bishopsgate Tower and the Minerva Building. London-based architectural visualisation studio Hayes Davidson worked in conjunction with various planning authorities, developers and architects to ensure that the vision was as fully informed as possible.

Jim Thacker, Editor of 3D World said:

“Architectural visualisation is one of the fastest growing sectors in the 3D industry and as such, we felt that it was an appropriate subject for our first ever supplement. The results of the survey will obviously be of interest to those directly involved in this market, but much of what we’ve found is relevant to those with a more general interest in computer graphics.”

Joanna Scott, Editor of the supplement, added:

“With features on award-winning, international architectural visualisation studios, such as Miami’s Spine3D, Boston’s Neoscape and Smoothe in London, as well as a showcase of awe-inspiring images from independent artists based around the world – this supplement is of real value both to those within the industry and those with ambitions to get involved.”

Issue 79 of 3D World is on sale from Tuesday 23rd May, priced £6.00. The magazine and supplement will reach international territories in the next two to three weeks.
