Sorry just read you are using sketch up and nxtrender - you really need to use blender and vray if you can or 3dsmax and mental ray/vray otherwise. Sketchup is ok but its mainly for architects to model exterior buildings. If you are serious about a 3d career you need the right software. Blender is the best free tool at the moment I believe and I have seen some good renders with it especially when used with Vray. But 3dsmax ha got to be the software of choice if you can manage to get a copy somehow - perhaps a student license? My final comment would have to be: if you are doing an interior is is a good idea to have a focus - something interesting that draws the eye - a lovely blowing curtain letting through daylight, a fancy chair, a great tv and music centre, an interesting stove, a lovely wooden floor etc. So its best to compose the scene as a peice of art with a focus and an interesting viewpoint, and then make sure your lighting and materials are very good. I hope all that helps in some way I am trying to be constructive but I think the most important critic has to be yourself, never settle for less than perfect (unless you are up against a deadline!).
thanx for your advise.

Yeah I think its the high level that makes this render relatively unexciting really. You would be better keeping the renders at eye level and using real people rather than models. Maybe consider more work on the choice of lighting and the materials - for example doing the floor in polished granite or something (unless its the clients choice to go for carpet)? What software are you using? I think the lighting is a bit off. And again furniture is not very exciting. I think you just need to read up more on the other interior renders and what other people do on this site and what settings they use etc. I think interiors are very difficult to do and make them look interesting - choice of furniture and materials matters a lot as well as getting the lighting spot on and then doing some post work in Photoshop to address colour balance, depth of field, put people and plants in the picture, etc. But I can talk I have yet to do an interior render myself and I am still not very advanced at archvis either myself yet. So perhaps a more expeirenced artist could give you more detailed pointers in where you are going wrong. But you are on the best site to learn and also study the tutorials etc on this site: http://www.ronenbekerman.com/ Good luck, keep at it, learning from others and getting experience trying out things are the keys to doing good renders I think.
